SHORT FIILM SUNDAY

Short Film Sunday is an idea I had come up with. What it is is every sunday I will post a short film I found online that was either creative,  interesting or just stood out to me, that was shot on a DSLR camera.

This weeks short is called Last Minutes with ODEN.

This short was filmed on a Canon 7D. It's a short about a man losing his best friend to cancer. This short is very touching. This short is the winner of The Video, The best Documentary and The Community Choice awards on Vimeo. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Thanks,
Zack

Hey, I though l would share some of my DSLR equipment with you. As far as the camera goes I'm using the Canon 7D. I love it! I'm still learning how to use it to it's full potential. I have yet to use the video function for an actual project but I have been able to do some fun test shots. I still have a lot to learn on it (Aperture, ISO, shutter and much more.)

For audio I'm using the Rode Video mic. The mic itself is great for beginner DSLR filming. The big advantages is that it plugs directly into the 3.5mm jack on the camera so the audio is recorded directly to the camera. The sound quality is much better the the onboard mic. In the future I would like to get better shotgun mics. which means I need a way of plugging in a XLR cable in to record audio. So I will be looking into the Zoom H4n Handy Mobile 4-Track Recorder to record my audio.

The tripod I use is the Manfrotto 547BK with the 701HDV Fluid head. Over all I love this tripod. This is my first fluid head tripod and I'm so glad I finally got one. Now my panning shots wont be shaky anymore. To go with my Tripod I got the 127 Portable Dolly.

I have a modified shoulder mount rig from RedRock Micro. With a RedRock Follow Focus to go with it. Being that I have recently broken my wrist I have yet to be able to use it but it will definitely Improve camera shake while going hand held. I'll let you know more about what I think of the rig once I get a Chance to use it.

Any Questions leave a comment asking whatever! Thanks for reading!

Hi, my name is Zack. I'm 16 years of age and I'm starting out in the world of film making. I am new to being a film maker so I have a lot to learn. Hopefully this blog will help you learn along with me. I will post updates on my personal equipment, my scripts, product I'm interested in and much more. I'll post reviews of movies that I have recently watched and let you know which ones I think are worth watching.
Thanks,
Zack
